In 1997, two newly established independent engineering inspection business in the process of developing their own statutory plant inspection portfolios, met to discuss a range of technical and resourcing issues surrounding statutory compliance, thorough examinations & testing of engineering plant and equipment.
A series of informal meetings were held, and offered invitations nationally, to anyone operating independently, providing the same, or equivalent professional engineering inspection services in their market. Hoping to generate some interest in expanding the group.
Very quickly they realized the huge benefits of sharing technical information and inspection resources with other independent engineering inspection businesses.
Within a year of their first meeting, a group of six independent inspection businesses formally established INITA (Independent National Inspection & Testing Association) in 1998, and invited carefully selected other professionally qualified and properly insured independent engineering inspection businesses operating in the same market to join.
